  2. Is corresponds to a kind of subculture, as you would imagine.  Because of that, you will hear different definitions that are negative or positive, sort of like how people would describe "emo."  I'll take a crack at a neutral definition.

It starts with the alternative music scene, more specifically hardcore, indie, fashionxcore, etc.  What has begun to happen is a certain breed of scenesters (quite literally, people on the scene) have started developing a subculture.  These people tend to be very knowledgeable in music, especially those specific music genres, and dress to express that.  To be honest, it's a little difficult to pinpoint styles and such because they vary from coast to coast (and music scene to music scene).  But to generalize, you will see stuff like facial piercings, longer hair, tattoos, etc.  In males, you can see stuff like long teased hair with bangs and girls will have maybe a fauxhawk or something equally distinct.

It seems like a bit of a throwback to Britain's revolutionary glam era...  meaning a lot of androgyny.  There's a lot of pride in scene people and they typically go for shock value.  Consequently, you get a lot of custom stuff going on, and scenesters will often shop around bargain thrift stores and such just to find new and interesting material to distinguish themselves.  It should also be noted that since music is artful expression, you'll often see the scene look amongst other artists such as photographers and poets.

So in a nutshell, the "scene" look doesn't really mean any one specific look, but one that falls under the umbrella of the "art" scene or "music" scene.  It's all about the same but there are differences from area to area.  As with all fashion though, it is constantly evolving and you'll have the more affluent members of that subculture defining what is "Scene" and what isn't.
