What is sea salt?

I need sea salt for a homemade body wrap to lose a couple inches here and there. I was wondering if the big crystal like salt that you use to melt ice in the winter- the ones you put on your drive way..Can that be used for body wraps, as an alternative to sea salt?

  1. Sea salt is mostly sodium chloride, just like table salt and de-icing salt. But sea salt also has other minerals, such as magnesium chloride, which is probably why it is being specified (what that has to do with weight loss is a different discussion)

Usually if you go to a store that sells organic food, you can find sea salt sold in relatively large containers.

  2. Sea salt is unrefined salt. The main difference between sea salt and regular salt is that regular salt have undergone refinement where trace minerals are removed from the salt to be used for other purposes. Natural sea salt is usually preferred to be used in skin care products http://www.sfbsc.com/natural-sea-salt-fo...
