  1. there are no dogs on cruise ships for the security....its not as tight as airport but when u first arrive and everytime you get off and on the ship u must put everything u have in the best where it is checked for things that aren't allowed on the ship....security isn't bad at all, at least comparing to airport....hope this helps!!!!!

  2. I recently went on a cruise leaving out of NYC. Before we even got on the ship, we were required to go through metal detectors. On the ship itself, there aren't any dogs but there are cameras in a great many locations and the cruise line, did have Security Officers onboard.

  3. no. you go through US Customs to get on the Ship. The boat takes your picture and issues you an id (w/o pic). You check your baggage and I'm sure they probably run it through an xray machine. Everytime you leave or return to the ship, they scan your card and your image comes up on a computer for them to see. And you put your bags through an xray machine.

When you debark, you go through Customs again. Occasionally they will have the dogs randomly searching, but when I went, it took like 10 minutes to wait in line, but that was it.

Jamaica does metal detectors, xray, and sometimes dogs. They are serious about taking drugs out of the country and stuff.

  4. Hi,

I used to work on ships.

Animals are not allowed on ships even a fish alive!

However, it can happens that the local autority will do a drug search with a dog, it is usually it strategic places...and does not happen often...and they search crew cabins first....

If a ship comes from a well known drug paradise....

On most of the ships, you have to show an ID when coming back onboard and go through metal detectors...

security there do not search for drugs, they only want the ship safe

of course if you wish to bring drugs onboard, be really discreet as they can send you off the ship if you abuse and do it in public...

  5. security is good .  but it sounds like you are trying to bring  "something " on board . if you get caught you will be spending your vacation in a room smaller then your cabin !

  6. dogs check luggage at embarkation and disembarkation.  i have not seen it happen during the cruise.  i would not risk it at all.  the foreign country jails are worse than ours. there is plenty of booze / legal drugs if you feel you need something to relax.

  7. I have been on seven cruises and I have four more booked.  At all ports there is an area that only cruise passengers can enter.  From there you have to show your room key to either get on the ship or to get on the tender boat.  Basically you are going to have to show your room key at least twice to get on the ship.

Once on the ship the ships have a security staff and cameras.  Cruise ships are very safe, given that many of them are like floating towns (3000 passengers plus 1500 crew).

Nonetheless, you still have to use common sense.  Though problems do happen, there are less problems on a cruise ship with 4500 people per week than in a town of equal size in a week.  It is just that problems in a town are so common that they don't make the news, while problems are a cruise ship are so rare they all make the news.

  8. No dogs.  I have been on many cruises and have never noticed security people, but I know they are there.  I have never seen a fight or any kind of disruption.  I feel entirely safe on cruises.
