Hi, ships husbandry is the service offered by a vessel's agent in a port. For a merchant vessel the 'ship's husbandry agent' would arrange the berthing and sailing times with the harbour master, coordinate the pilot, tugs and linesmen. Arrange fresh water, bring mail on board and tend to any needs the crew has through the captain.

The agent usualy represents the charterer of the vessel, however there are often times when the owner will require a (usually different) agent and sometimes there will be a cargo agent too.  The charterer's agent will be the one looking after the ship's husbandry.
