What is shopping in a Boulangerie, Poisonnerie, Boucherie, and Epicerie like? How do you shop in them? What questions do you ask to get your point across, in French?

  1. well..as i live in Paris, i can tell you that little shops are way better than huge supermarkets..!

    of course we go to the supermarket because we can find everything we need at the same place, but going to the boulangerie, the poissonnerie or the patisserie is something different!

    in those shops you can meet your neighbours and feel the soul of your district... every place is different and have his speciality...and the shop's windows often look delicious..!!

    When you enter in a boulangerie, or in a chocolaterie, you just ask the saler what you need, and he gives you advices and then serve you...for instance, you can ask recepies to the boucher, or ask the poissonier what's the best way to cook your fish.. ! And it permites you to actually talk to a real french people!!!
