What is shoreditch like? i live in kew, want to rent somewhere that i get more for my money. shoreditch nice?

In Kew you can get a nice 2 bed house with garden for £1500 a month.

In Shoreditch/Hoxton you can get an OK but not spectacular warehouse style 1 bed apartment with no outside space for £1500 a month.

It's dirty and smelly, but has lots of cool places to go out and is also much nearer central London.

If you moved from Kew to Shoreditch you would be insane.

Actually, its pretty ok...It's a bit grimy and down at heel on the surface but is rapidly becoming very hip and cool, mainly because of its proximity to ultra-hip Hoxton. Increasingly, its filling up with small private art galleries, trendy bars, and restaurants...just like Hoxton in fact. You'll also be a LOT closer to central London. But prices are going up rapidly so act quickly.

Plus, its a h**l of a lot more "street" than admitting you live in leafy suburban Kew!

You will not get more for your money in Shoreditch than in Kew!  Shoreditch is ridiculously overpriced!  I'm aware that Kew is also an expensive area, but at least it's nice.  Shoreditch is run down and dingy, but gets away with exorbitant rental prices because it's close to the city and it's trendy.  Of course there are some good aspects - there are cool bars and so on - but in terms of how much space you get for what you pay, moving to Shoreditch is not the way forwards.

The only advantage to it is that if you work in central London, your travelling time and costs will be reduced.

Rough looking place, but the people are OK, it's a multicultural neighbourhood and when I lived there I had no complaints. You'll get a lot more space for your rent money.
