  1. The European Union is a group of 27 nations located in Europe, including Great Britain and French Guiana which is in South America, and they share an economic prosperity, currency and certain laws which are a prerequisite to admission into the European Union.  Countries in the European Union have free movement, trade and financial transactions between countries, since they share a common currency (I don't know if Great Britain uses the Euro, or if they are still in their own currency).

The United Nations is a public forum of nations globally who have been accepted, and share the responsibilities of the charter of the United Nations.  Reporting for United Nations Goals is mainly reported in U.S. Dollars, as a world-recognized value. - un.org

  2. Both are international organizations, but United Nations is represented by many nations worldwide, European Union is a little bit like NAFTA, the countries represented are in Europe only.

  3. Similarities between the EU and UN are that they are both IGOs.  They are both organizations that are created by their members to serve over-arching purposes in multiple issue areas.  They attempt to create peace through stability and economic cooperation.  They are both fundamentally bound to the idea of democracy.  And they both represent the collective will of their members.

The differences are that the UN is an international organization while the EU is more of a supranational organization.  Members of the UN tend to disobey their orders all the time and there is hardly much of an international precident to make things really stick.  While the EU can almost force its members to abide by particular laws and rules.  The UN strives for equality and the fair treatment of every human being, while the EU strives for regional economic integration and a binding of the states.  The UN does not strive to create integration, there is no one world, one government moto.

  4. The UN has more clout.

  5. UN and EU are both international organizations but UN has a wider scope and more members than EU.

UN and EU are concerned with economic cooperation of member countries but UN had more purposes.

  6. The UN is the United Nations and every country in the world can apply for membership as the EU is the European Union and only European countries can join. They also have to meet a number of criteria such as they must be capitalist and must not have the death penalty

The EU is mainly fo economic growth while the goal of the UN is to stop major world conflicts. The EU is not armed but the UN is.
