  1. The next typical weight used is :

    Microgram (10^-6 grams)

But you could use the SI naming convention and use

    Nanogram (10^-9)

    Picogram (10^-12)

    Femtogram (10^-15)

    Attogram (10^-18)

    zeptogram (10^-21)

    yoctogram (10^-24)

  2. a milligram is a thousandth of a gram

    a microgram is a ten-thousandth of a gram

    a nanogram is a hundred-thousandth of a gram

    etc..

  3. microgram

    nanogram

    picogram- 1 billionth

  4. The smallest unit is 1.783e−36 kg, the mass equivalent of one electronvolt of energy. The smallest unit for which there is a name is 10e−27, the yoctogram (yg).

Check out "Orders of magnitude (mass)" on Wikipedia:

  5. Half a milligram

The next smallest standard prefix would be a micro (10^-6).  You usually don't see that small of a prefix associated with mass though because that is approaching the precision of most scales.
