What is so great about Twilight? I've never heard of this book. All my friends talk about it.?

The great question! lol I like the series; it's one of those sappy romances that you get so caught up in, you end up yelling at the characters for being stupid and stuff. It's like a guilty pleasure: you know you (the intelligent woman/man in a modern day, equal rights society) should despise this book for it's foil characters and its-weak female needs male in order to live happily-storyline but you can't help but read it. It's a trip back to those Disney stories we loved as children-where prince charming defeats all the bad guys and sweeps the girl off her feet into the sunset. I think that's why so many girls go nutters of Edward-he's that white knight.

It's a modern day fantasy fairy tale. Something that you can sigh over with a stupid look on your face in the privacy of your bedroom and daydream about.

Why choose it over better books? It's an escapist's book-the people who read it are usually ones who want to get away from the real world a lot of the time, and indulge in something more interesting (make believe) It's like taking a trip into a fantasy land, lol. The story is also written in a way that's really...sincere I guess is the word. You get the feeling the author really wants to just tell a good, sweet romance story.

I'd recommend it if you're a chick/dude that likes to daydream and a romantic.

well a lot of girls like it because it involves s**y vampires, romance, and s**y vampires and well that's about it. i am a Twilight fan but i too wonder what exactly makes it so great? it's not like it goes into depth about anything. but the conclusion i have reached is: people like it cuz it's a romance novel. oh and it's about about a girl named bella who moves to a new town and meets the Cullen family who just so happen to be vampires. and the next 3 books are about how being in love with a vampire continually puts her in danger. yeah it's not a bad book i like them

Edit: You seem to be fairly new to the Book section, so I'll humor you with an actual answer. Perhaps you've not noticed all the Twilight questions, yet.

Twilight is about a girl named Bella who moves to a rainy town in Washington to live with her dad. She then meets Edward Cullen, (the reason most people like the story), an incredibly handsome "vegetarian" vampire who has an extra-strong pull to Bella's blood. All the while, they're falling in love, while Edward has to try his hardest not to kill her, and they overcome all the challenges of vampire-love, along with those of new, first-love.

It's fairly entertaining. Quick, easy read that's easy to get into.

Twilight is the best book i have EVER read.

its about a girl (Bella) who falls in love with this gorgeous vampire(Edward) but she doesn't know his secret. it is an awesome story the second book made me cry many times =[

i think you should read the books. maybe you would fall in love with the characters just like i did.:]

Well, answering your second question, it's so popular because of the massive fanbase (who are all majorly obsessed, sometimes known as 'twihards') and I guess many choose it over better books because of Edward Cullen...

It's a cute love story between a really hot and polite vampire, and a normal clumsy teenage girl.  It's sweet.  It's romance.  It appeals more to girls than boys.

Are your friends that gush about Twilight girls? Because if it is, then I totally understand your lack of knowledge of the book series. If you have read the previous answers in your question, then I'd say don't read it if you can't stand over-the-top drama romance. I'm not saying that the book is only for girls, but it's rare that a guy reads this series. Oh and there's this one guy who does read Twilight saga. I'll give you the link. Watch his YT Vlogs about this, it's hilarious.
