What is so special about the new ipod touch?

I am not sure if I want this for my b-day. Can any one please let me know, what is so special about it compared to a ipod nano 3rd generation.

The thing that sets it and the iPhone apart from the other ipod models (besides the touchscreen) is it's capability to run third paty applications, such as games from the appstore, and emulators to play gameboy, nes, playstation, etc. games if you jailbreak it.

well you can go on the internet and youtube! you can also check the weather and go on websites like myspace and other things. it has easy acess to your email and it has a world clock and sevaral other downloadable features!

this thing is the closest thing to the iphone except without camera and phone function

iPod touch has touchscreen interface similar to the iPhone, so this is a good choice if you can live without a phone.

Second, it comes with wifi so you can go on internet at any hotspot

third, it runs programs that can be dled from apple store...

good choice if you've got the money

ipod touch is AMAZING! i felt the same way i was like should i get it or no, it's worth it though, you can do so much with it.

Well, the ipod touch does alot of other things besides holds songs. Its the exact same thing as the iPhone except for the fact that you can't call people off it.  It doesnt hold that many songs though, so if thats what you want, don't buy it.  But you can go on the internet, and everything else you can do on the iPhone commercials. But you don;t really ever use it.  The only reason why you would want it is because it cool. I would go with the nano.

that the screen is bigger and the fact that you can TOUCH it. ya know its in the name. and unlike the 3rd generation it has wi-fi and alot more features
