Ok so I have been drinking soda for about 3 years now. I drink on an average of 2(2 liters) a day. I am always very tired and i have no energy to do anything. At the end of the day im very stressed and very moody. Also i have gained about 40 pounds. My question is why am i so lazy i thought that caffeine made you have energy. I am looking for some ideas on how to drop the habbit, i have tried before and the headaches were horrible. If you have any suggestions for me that would be great! I really want to know about the mood changes and lack of energy as well. Thanks everyone!

  1. no, the caffeine does not give u energy it just keeps u awake and u are tired after drinking 2 liters of soda a day because it has all that sugar in it.

    switch to diet

drink like 4 cans a day instead of 2 liters

You could have one in the morning, lunch, 3:00, and then one at dinner

and you excersice??? try walking for like 20-25 minutes every morning and that can help u lose the 40 pounds you gained

  2. well ur probably gettin the haedaches when u try 2 stop from caffeine with drawls... maybe u should switch to one cup of coffee in the morning... u should switch to juice and adding a bit of club soda to it it is almost tasteless but gives u the same bubbly feel of normal soft drinks. try exercising to shed those few extra pounds start by walking and slowly increase the distance and the speed

  3. soda is bad for you, the headaches are because your body is addicted to the caffeine  try no to drink as much as you do cut your consumption of soda in half get used to that, then cut it in half again  ween yourself off of the sauce and you might notice that in the process  you will be loosing weight  good luck

  4. Get off of the sugar...it is not good for you.

  5. Ponder this - it is a proven fact that Colas ( i shall not name them) if poured down a sink or tub drain will nt only clean them but will begin to eat away the metal plumbing, so imagine what it is doing to your stomach? How is that for a little inspiration, not to mention what the sugar is going to your teeth.

  6. Try diet sodas. Takes a little longer to see the effects, but you still get the caffeine without the sugar and stuff. or try caffeine free.

Caffeine can help short term but a lot of it can give these negative side effects. So try to at least cut back.

    Hope i helped :)

  7. I think the caffeine and sugar is sort of like a temporary energy boost and then when it wears off you feel like you have no energy at all. I would say the first step is to switch to Diet pop....All the sugar in the regular pop is probably why you gained the weight. Then after switching to Diet soda try the diet caffeine free stuff. I have found it actually has a better taste. You might get headaches but I think if you wean yourself off slowly it will be more manageable. I  used to drink alot of coffee and now I only drink a couple cups in the morning and feel alot better. Good luck. You can do it!

  8. Caffeine is suppose to give you energy but if not offset by water it will cause you to tire out. It takes more water to process caffeine than a caffeinated beverage contains. Therefore caffeine actually dehydrates us. When we are dehydrated we become very tired and lethargic. If you feel tired drink 2 glasses of water. If after 15 minute you feel better than you were just dehydrated.

Since the brain is mostly water, more of it than the rest of our bodies it is more supseptable to dehydration than our bodies are. This can lead to your moodyness and stress.

Most sodas have aout 25 - 35 mg of caffeine. So a 2 liter bottle will contain 212.5 - 297.5 mg of caffeine. While this is under the level of 300 mg which is the start of too much that will cause many health problesm it is close enough that long term use of those levels can caus problems.

The weight gain is simply from the sugars and calories. The headaches you got were most likely from withdrawel. Caffeine acts like a drug and we can get addicted to it.

Don't give up the caffein all together but reduce it and you should be fine. First drink plenty of water. 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight plus 8 ounces for every 20 minute of exercise is the norm. Yes we can get some from foods and other drinks but not alcoholic and caffeinated drinks. Proper hydration will increase motabolism and energy levels by 3%.

Next try switching to Green Tea, diet soda, or healthy energy drinks. Green tea has 30 mg of caffine so it cause the withdrawels. It is full of antioxidents, can curb your appitite, increase motabolism, and is good for the stomach and digestion of foods. Diet soda will give you the caffeine as the regular ones but without the sugar and calories you have been getting in the regular sodas. Healthy energy drinks provide energy with B vitamins, not sugar and caffeine. However, caffeine is still needed to help deliver the energy of the B vitamins so they still have some. Normal about 85 mg like a cup of coffee but half or less than half ot the amounts of reglar energy drinks.

I recommend only 3 healthy energy drinks. 2 are available in stores and are 5 Hour Energy and Stacker's 6 Hour Power. The other is available through private distributors only but has the benefit of tasting much better, a larger variety, a 100% guarantee, and extra herbs that help out with the heart too. With your current condition of having an extra 40 pounds protecting your heart is important. This last company is XS Energy.

  9. Caffeine will give you energy for a short period of time, then you will crash. Probably explains a little bit about the lack of energy. Try not drinking any soda for a week. It's much better for you anyway and you may even lose a little weight. Just drink water, that's all your body really needs anyway.

  10. Yikes!! I used to do the same exact thing!! firstly, caffeine does give you energy, but, it's temporary, and when it wears off, you fall hard. In addition, if it is sugar soda it surely will make you gain weight--empty calories! In addition, I got bladder infections that I couldn't get rid of, the doctor finally asked me about soda, and when I told him how much I drank he went nuts! It was the source of my infections!! So, like it or not, I had to quit cold turkey. I used to HATE (and I mean HATE!!) water. Now, not only do I drink water almost exclusively, I have grown to LOVE it! I actually love it more than any drink!! Try different bottled waters until you find one you like. You need to cut out all soda (I can already hear you crying & screaming) but, you will feel so much better!! It will be hard at first, and yes, you will have some side effects, but, once you are over them, you will start feeling 100% better. In graduate school, I studied addictive substances as part of the requirements for my degree--along with alcohol, heroin, cocaine (and every other drug), and nicotine was CAFFEINE!! I couldn't believe it, but, my prof. told us it was just as addictive! It does, indeed cause mood changed and makes you lethargic because it is an unnatural source of energy. Take a cold wash cloth & aspirin for your head and try protien, peanuts, soybeans (roasted or edame), an energy bar instead of caffeine. It will be difficult and lousy for a while, but, once you get over your addiction, you will find that you feel better and have more energy!  Best of luck to you! I hope I helped!
