  1. steriliser, moses basket, swinging chair (if you have the money buy one, they are great for settling newborns) top and tail bowl, mat to wash and change on

  2. Crib/Cot/bassinette and some bunny rugs/small blankets and wraps: for sleep

Disposable/Cloth Nappies : about 24 cloth nappies or a couple of packs of disposables

Breast Pump/Bottles, Formula, Sterylising equipment : 6 - 8 bottles and a tin of infant formula or a good breast pump (medela or avent are great!) and a steam steryliser

Some singlets, socks, bodysuits and bibs

    Towels, bum wipes

    Car seat

  3. you need to make sure you have all the essentials...such as a crib or bassinet (or even both), diapers, wipes, clothes, blankets, stroller, car seat (some hospitals wont let you bring ur baby home until you have a car seat), baby swing or bouncer is nice to have too.  Also, get a pack-n-play.   If you get a pack-n-play you wont need to get a bassinet.  They already have the bassinet part and as the baby gets older you can take it down.  the pack-n-play i have also has a changing table on it too so I'm not too worry about going out and spending more money on a changing table.

I also went to babyrus and bought bottles, baby bath tub for newborns that converts to a bigger tub for when she gets bigger.

But the MUST HAVE items would just be:

bottles, diapers, wipes, baby bed, clothes, rattles, diaper bag, pacifers

  4. Babiesrus and target have a new mom list when you go to their gift registry desk or on line. You can sort through the list and pick the ones that seem more help full.1.A bouncer helps me a lot. 2.The other big help is a wrap that I use to wear my baby to do my home works. They are like some extra pairs of hand to care for the baby. Babies who are worn cry less. You can make your wrap for less . just go to wearyourbaby.com. and  www.peppermint.com/choosing.html. 3. Boppy is a good mom's friend too. 4. nursing bra . 5. If you can find somebody to help you during the first weeks it is great; otherwise invest in teaching your partner how much help you AND THE BABY will need ."books and the videos in the library can help ." 6.You definitely need a "Baby Book".  I am using the one that is written by Dr. Sears. It has helped a lot specially during sick and crying times.

    Good luck and congratulations.

  5. * Somewhere for the baby to sleep - cot, bassinet, moses basket or whatever.

    * Plenty of nappies/diapers in the newborn size

    * Several grow-suits, appropriate to your local climate

    * Several muslin wraps - absolutely indispensable! Soft, light and easy to firmly wrap your darling in.

    * A packet of cloth nappies/diapers - even if you're planning to use disposables. They're great for burping, for wiping spills after feeding, that kind of thing.

    * If you're going to breastfeed, have plenty of breast pads, and a tube of Lansinoh.

    * Stock up on maternity sanitary napkins - you'll probably need them for a least a couple of weeks.

    * Large bottle of sorbolene cream - you can use it for washing baby, for cleaning little bottoms at nappy changes, as well as a moisturiser for you AND baby

There's so much stuff we're TOLD we need... but that's all I really couldn't get by without.

Oh, and don't forget... you'll need (well, want!) someone else to do the cooking/cleaning!!

Best of luck for your big adventure.

  6. For Leaving The Hospital

    - car seat

    - warm clothing

    - bottles

    - nappy's/diapers

    - blankets

    - a hat

    For At Home

    - bibs

    - a cradle/ cot

    - plenty of clothes

    - baby grows

    - a pram

    - plenty of milk

they are probably the main things you need for a new-born baby, Some parents may want to buy a baby swing as a compfort fot the baby. Just make sure the baby is wrapped up on the way out of the hospital as it would be the first time the baby is out in the air, plus you dont want them to be cold as it could make them fall ill.

    Good Luck! :):):)
