Question:

What is something good to bring to a potluck that doesn't need to be kept hot or cold?

I am going to a potluck straight from another event so I need something I can make the night before and keep in my car all day without it going bad.

I'd rather bring something dinner-y than desert-y, but any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Various types of presliced breads & rolls. Bring a basket or plate to place them on.

  2. Cheese, glorious CHEESE!!

Most all cheeses do not need refrigeration and are actually better left out.

  3. I dd this last year just bring cips (nachos) with salsa!

  4. There are not too many things you can cook and leave in your car during the day.  But, a cooler makes the difference.

Make something cold like a layered dip. Put it in an ice filled cooler, better yet those cold packs work better because they don't melt and get everything all wet. It should be still nice and fresh that evening.

If the place where the event is held has a microwave, you could make some finger food like meatballs. Store in the fridge overnight. In the cooler during the day and heat them up when you get there.

Cooler again, coldcuts, cheese, crackers or bread and fruit are good.

Make an advance order for something at a place near where you'll be during the day. Pick it up on your way to the event.

Some restaurants are specializing in making party dishes to go.

  5. Bread
