I know he has a PX there with many things, but I want to send him some things he may not be able to get or something that might be special to him. Any ideas from men/women who have been there or friends and family members of loved ones there?

  1. My son is in Iraq -- I looked at various sites to get a general idea of what to send and some of the romantic items wives send their husbands while overseas were so touching.

These included a lock of their hair, cards reminding their soldier that they are thinking of them sprayed with their favorite perfume, a small piece of clothing that brings back sweet memories for each spouse.

I have been sending my son books by his favorite authors that he can't get in the PX.  Other items have been a small state flag and an itune gift card for his Ipod.  We were discouraged from sending home baked goods since it takes anywhere from 18 - 22 days for our packages to reach the troops.

My son told me that he has limited storage space and didn't have anyplace to put his gear much less a care package full of unnecessary items.

  2. Bake him a bunch of his favorite cookies.  Nothing better then a taste of something from the kitchen back at home.

  3. Check though this site, might be something there.

  4. I alwasy send bake goods, like cookies and cakes/brownies I can cook in a tin from the dollar store. He can share the cookies. My husband was a bodybuilder so I was always incorporating protein drink mix into the brownies or cup cakes I sent and they were nutriciuos cup cakes.
