I am trying to prepare as much as i can, as far as having a good idea of what is going to happen to me. I am still anxious of somthing suprising me during labor! Is there anything that you experienced that you wish someone had told you or prepared you for before going into labor?

  1. This is technically an AFTER labor issue, but one thing I wish I had known was how much bleeding there is after the birth.  After my first daughter was born, I remember getting up from the bed to shower, and could FEEL the bleeding.... I got so nervous b/c I thought I was hemorrhaging.  It's totally normal, but I found it to be way more than AF bleeding (sorry for too much info!) and would have been far more relaxed had I known that.  But if you expect that (as I did for my second and third babes), then its no big deal at all. Hope that helps, and good luck!! :)

  2. When you think you can't handle it anymore, you are almost done.  When women get to that point they are in transition.  After 7 cm the pain doesn't hurt more, the contractions are just CLOSER together.  Remember to breathe slowly and deeply.  Change positions often.  Go to the bathroom at least once an hour.  Hire a doula!  They'll get you through the worst of it!  :)

  3. That if you get the epidural you will still feel the pain. By the time I got the epidural it was time to push.

  4. Just do not forget to take the one and only one thing you need the most when u enter into the labor room

                                           "A Smile"

It is the only thing you will need, all the best and keep smiling.

  5. Ignore horror stories, ok, chances are you may do a tiny p**p during pushing, but 99% of women do! the baby presses on the bowel! That is the only thing that left me mortified!

  6. With my first everyone prepared me for the pains of being induced with pitocin and the after pains etc. but the one thing they didnt mention to me was pooing while delivering my baby...And of course i wasnt prepared for that and it happened to me =\

  7. No matter how you 'think' or 'want' things to happen during labour, and no matter how much you try to keep 'open-minded' about the possible changes that might happen in the delivery room... it almost never goes how you thought it would!!!

Just been through my 2nd labour and thought I was prepared and open-minded... but it's never how you think it is. I think the best way to approach it is - that you have no idea how things are gonna pan out in there, so just go with the flow and get any preconcieved ideas out of your head... Like I said, I thought I was open-minded, but I wasn't "as" open-minded as I thought I was. Good luck, stay positive, and try to enjoy!!!

  8. I wish they hadn't tried to scare me to death.  It is not that bad in most cases.  I wish they had told me that once labor starts things move so fast you don't have time to think about what's going on you just have time to do what the nurses and doctors tell you to do.
