  1. Try cutting it in half and putting the halves into a pan.  Put a little butter and some seasonings in there and bake for 45 mins to an hour.  Then you can pick up the flesh with your fork and it should come out in little strands that look like spaghetti.

    My dad will pour spaghetti sauce onto baked spaghetti squash and eat it just like that.

    Yum!

  2. The spaghetti squash (Cucurbita pepo) (also called vegetable spaghetti, noodle squash, Spaghetti Marrow (in the UK) , squaghetti or Sharkfin Melon 鱼翅瓜 to Chinese) is an oblong seed-bearing variety of winter squash. The fruit can range either from ivory to yellow or orange in color or green with white streaks. Its center contains many large squash seeds. Its flesh is bright yellow or orange or white for the latter variety. When raw, the flesh is solid and similar to other raw squash; when cooked, the flesh falls away from the fruit in ribbons or strands like spaghetti or shark's fin (when cooked in a soup form). Spaghetti squash can be baked, boiled or steamed, and served with sauce as for pasta, or used as a vegetable base for macaroni and cheese. Spaghetti squash contains many nutrients including folic acid, potassium, vitamin A, and beta carotene. It is also a food low in calories, averaging 75 calories in 8 cooked ounces. It is an American native vegetable.

  3.   Spaghetti Squash I

    "The flesh of spaghetti squash comes out in long strands, very much resembling the noodles for which it is named. In this recipe, the 'noodles' are tossed with vegetables and feta cheese. You can substitute different vegetables, but be sure to use ones that have contrasting colors."

    INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

        * 1 spaghetti squash, halved lengthwise and seeded

        * 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

        * 1 onion, chopped

        * 1 clove garlic, minced

        * 1 1/2 cups chopped tomatoes

        * 3/4 cup crumbled feta cheese

        * 3 tablespoons sliced black olives

        * 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil

    DIRECTIONS

       1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.

       2. Place spaghetti squash cut sides down on the prepared baking sheet, and bake 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a sharp knife can be inserted with only a little resistance. Remove squash from oven, and set aside to cool enough to be easily handled.

       3. Meanwhile, heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Saute onion in oil until tender. Add garlic, and saute for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the tomatoes, and cook only until tomatoes are warm.

       4. Use a large spoon to scoop the stringy pulp from the squash, and place in a medium bowl. Toss with the sauteed vegetables, feta cheese, olives, and basil. Serve warm.

  4. Besides the Wikipedia answer, the spaghetti squash is a mild flavored squash that has stringy, spaghetti like flesh when it is cooked. You can bake it until it is tender and then scoop out the flesh and season it in any number of ways.

    Because it is mild, it even tastes good with spaghetti "tomato" sauce and so  the low carb diets suggest using it in place of pasta.
