  1. Hello! I'm from Spain, and I think it is not different to the rest European countries, and  we have a lot of similarities with Latin America as well, and the Western world overall, because we're Western world!! :))

We are mostly friendly, polite and funny. Family and friends are VERY important for us, that's why we're very sociable people. We welcome foreigners with a smile, altough we're not exactly good at foreign languages!!!. Nevertheless, people in tourist places speak perfectly german and english, and some, french, italian, portuguese...

Young people speak english easily, at least, some basic words and sentences.

If you try to learn some Spanish, it would be very appreciated. (ie HOLA! -hello!-, or GRACIAS -thank you!-, or QUE TAL? -what's up?-)

Remember that we speak in a loud voice. We don't consider it rude and it doesn't mean we're angry!!! lol.

We're very expressive, we speak with words and "gestures" (body language is very important to understand our relationships with other people): we smile, laugh, cry or get angry easily and it is showed on our voice, our words, our gestures...

In terms of inmigration, Spain is very flooded with inmigrants, and some people take it well and naturally, other people take it badly. Sometimes there are some cultural shocks between Spaniards and people from certain poorer countries. Some inmigrants do their best to make Spain a less safe country, other just want to earn their life with dignity. Some Spaniards tollerate them, other do their best to make the inmigrants stay in Spain a h**l. Spain is not racist, but there are racists as in every country. Respect and disrespect depends on each person, and there are good Spaniards and bad ones, just like good inmigrants and bad ones.

Spain is a very liberal country in general. People are usually enough open-minded.

Enjoy Spain, I hope you like it! We have a healthy, varied and tasty food, awesome beaches, beautiful landscapes, historical towns, big cities and a vibrant nightlife. It's hard to get bored in Spain. Many things to do, many places to see!!

  2. If you have family to look up, go and do it!  You won't regret it.  Spain is one of the best places on earth!   See above posting with the same question....she posted a couple of hours after you.
