What is spam?

Question

I wrote/asked a question on the question board. But, then people wrote that my question would be considered spam. I want to make sure that I use Yahoo questions correctly so what exactly is Spam?

As "Wikipedia" says:

Spamming is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages. While the most widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet forum spam and junk fax transmissions.

But then, I recently found out the truth about wikipedia....it is NOT A REAL ENCYCLOPEDIA...is just a bunch of entries added by people from all over the world....not necessarily by experts in the field they are writing about.....so all you kids whose schools are referring you to use wikipedia for homework.....be aware that what it says is not always right!
