It depends on the ype of fondue....it can be cheese, or chocolate or broth. It needs a pot so that it constantly kept hot. It is eaten by dipping food into it and needs to be hot during the whole process.

fondue is basically melted cheese, spread on crackers, bread chunks etc....you can add things to it, such as salsa, hummus, minced vegetables,  it needs to be in a small crockpot or in a fondue pot to be kept warm so it stays soft.
