"the dichotomy of  gentle beauty and  rugged strength ,this geography of flowing green rice fields ,deep blue waters and sandy beaches under  fluffy white clouds and warm breezes. vs dark jungle mts in thick monsoone rain and low land floods.  these same qualities are mirrored in the people.from the gracefull school girls in blinding white ao dai as they peddle to & from school to the rugged men who plow the fields and man the fishing vessals . viet nam  combinds, like no other place i have ever seen, laughter and kindness with determined confidence, moral and strength to overcome any obstical , any adversity  that nature or man can provide.  ... they call it "co gan" .....thoi !"   "viet nam , a humbley proud country"

What isn't!!

For me I think the people make this a special country, especially the woman. They are so happy and friendly, laughing and just enjoying life as it should be.

of course there is also the history, the food, culture, beaches, highlands, coffee and much much more.

But after living and working here for around 6 years, the people are definately what make Vietnam so special!

So many special things. If you haven't read about this country, you can start with basics in Lonelyplanet. Then you can search Wikipedia. But they are not enough.

To me, a Vietnamese person, a Hanoian to be more specific, I love almost everything about my country. But the best thing may be the cuisine ;). i'm kind of greedy.
