What is sponsorship?

Hello all,

I'm only 14 years of age but I heard that you can get sponsorship to help suport you with shoes and simple stuff like that. To seek it do you need to pay them once a year or what? would they sponsore a future oylimpion? as I've already completed a half marathon and soon to do a full marathon... Can somone tell me how the whole thing works. Thanks people. And I am a really good runner as I did some tests threw the AIS and I came well above avarage.

a sponsor is a company that will give you free stuff to endorse or use their product! for example if nike gave you a sponsorship you would wear nike tee shirt and shorts and shoes that they would give you for free that say nike on them. then at your next big race you would wear all the stuff they gave you! this is good for you because you get free stuff and good for the companies because when other people see you and your winning its good advertisement for the company! good luck with your running, and hopefully you can get a sponsor!!
