  3. Hi,

Dude your question is very generalized and so will my answer be. Standard is basically a value, protocol or procedure etc., which is being set by hit and trial method or as a reference value. For example, consider the material of costruction for Ammonia gas. Although Stainless steel is far more expansive and more resistant to corrosion than carbon steel, but for Ammonia gas which is highly poisonous, using carbon steel is the standard. Similarly for food industry using stainless steel is the standard. Now consider the standard conditions of temperature and pressure for gases, which are 0 Celcius and 1 atmospheric pressure. These values were required because scientests needed a reference point for gases. As the volume of all gases are highly dependent on pressure and temperature, the volumetric flows are notified at standard conditions. For example, a gas may have 5 m^3 at 2 atm and 38 C, but this value will be reffered to as 10 m^3 at STP (i.e., standard temperature and pressure)

There are many more examples, but I will finish my answer now. Hope this helps. Bye.
