What is step one for fighting in a cage match?

Right now taking Muay Thai and BJJ (I just recently started though) I'm taking them at a gym that focuses on MMA and has some of the best instructors in the southeast. It's a really good gym.

But I'm 15 years old and for some reason I cant see them having any real reason to help me much right now because of my experience.

But I need a goal. How do I get into an organized fight and get one under my belt?

  1. I would definitely suggest getting started in some bjj or muay thai competions; competition experience is really important in preparing you to step into a cage (to help you deal with nerves, pressure, etc)

I don't know about muay thai competitions, but I know at bjj tournaments you'll often find mma fighters to network with about fight opportunities (just be prepared to have to travel)

  2. watch the pro and learn, got to earn your way to a fight. if you go to a good school.

  3. sorry no mma events are held for fighters under the age of 18.  compete in some BJJ tournaments as well as some Muay Thai matches for the next few years and when the time comes youll be more prepared for a cage fight.

  4. your instructors can help get you something

but nothing official until you are at least 18

you dont see things about helping others

im a better teacher then a fighter

im constantly showing people some stuff in my dojo

theres a rather good sense of feeling when you can go yea i showed someone that as they bend someone or land a solid hit

the best was showing my friend a good way to get the armbar when the guy has his hands locked

my sensei turned around and goes ok lets see how you guys did and called us up one at a time, he got it faster then anyone, even me cause of what i showed him

    fyi

    mma

going for armbar he grabs his arm

hammer fist his stomach 2 inches or so above the belly button, he will let go fast

  5. u have to wait till ur older

  6. u need to get the right connections to get into a fight

  7. There are many events that can prepare you for Professional MMA including in some states youth MMA such as in Missouri.  They have events with modified rules and protective gear (head gear most importantly).  They modify the rules to allow no strikes once the fight has hit the ground, the ref's don't wait for taps etc..  Some will call it Pankration even though its not truly a Pankration bout.  To find the best fit for you right now you need to express your interest to your trainer, if he doesn't have any interest yo should switch instructors IMO and find someone who will take interest while your paying them.

  8. you can fight at 16 as a ameture. the first step to getting in to a cage fight is get training. my first fight was with no training and it was not so pretty.
