What is stock management?

im doing my final year engineering... i hav been given a mini proj called stock management...i hav no idea about it...so some1 please tell me wat s this stock management basically... n can u suggest which language i can use 4 doin proj...

Imagine your factory is assembling cars. Of course the parts are produced all over the country and arrive by train loads. Say 400 wheels at the time, 1000 doors, but only 20 motors. You can store parts, but of course the storage room is limited. And when the cars are assembled, well they have to leave again by train, using the same freight trains if possible, because that's cheaper.

Now try to balance all that.... get the idea?
