  1. Can't really figure your question  perhaps this explanation will enlighten you.

Oil is supplied under pressure to the bearings areas and the accessory drive gearbox. After lubrication the oil are collected in this sump areas where they are scavenged back to the oil tank. There is a forward and an aft sumps which are internal to the engine. This heated oil passes a main fuel/oil heat exchanger where the hot oil heats up the fuel to prevent icing. A series of filter, bypass valve (incase of clogging) and water/oil separator prior returning to the tank to prevent water ingress. Some have anti-cavitation line to prevent foaming.

  2. Have a look at this presentation it may be of some help to you.

Microsoft PowerPoint - Halvor Erikstein EWHN 2006 Organophosphates

If this doesn't work do a google on Sump Philosophy and you will get this link.

In my time as an engineer we did what was called "Early Failure Detection" using Spectrographic Oil Analisys.

This process gave very accurate life expectancies for reduction gearbox and engine.

Hope this is of some help.
