  1. Generally, after the first day of surfing, a beginner is literally wiped out in the bed. Surfing uses all of the muscles to a point, but especially the abdominals, upper arms, and thighs.

  2. my bRaiN

  3. Pecs and traps get a good workout, but don't forget, it's a full body effort.

  4. pretty much the ones in your body.

  5. there are a couple of muscles used:

biceps in your arms 4 pushing up

triceps in your shoulders 4 paddling

quads in your shins 4 standing

hamstring in your legs 4 moving your board

  6. well you use your pectoral muscles of pecs and ur trapezoids of shoulders

  7. citizen is right man ...your brain.

or else you'll just make yourself look like a douchebag and youll end up getting cut off all the time.

plus your balls... as in dont puss out.

  8. While paddling out to the waves you will use most of your upper body muscles (neck, arms, hands, chest, back, stomach, butt *I know, glutes*).

While sitting on the board waiting for the perfect wave you will use your jaw muscles as you chat it up with your buddies.

While actually surfing the waves you will use stomach, lower back, thigh, calf, shin, foot, toe, and again, the butt....

    Oh, there are probably more.

If you're wondering about it because you want to get in shape to start surfing soon, a good overall workout with the upper body one day and the lower body the next (repeat) should do it.

Combine these workouts with a daily aerobic exercise like running or swimming, and you will be ready in 6 weeks or so.
