  1. They are actually two very different things.

A "system on a chip" is a computer-engineering term referring to a new design approach, where engineers integrate many elements (often all that is needed to create a self-sufficient computer) onto a single silicon chip. This includes input/output peripherals, memory, the processor, cache, etc.

A "lab-on-a-chip" refers to miniaturizing chemical analysis and processing techniques such that they fit onto a single chip and work with microliter (or smaller) volumes of liquid. Typically labs on a chip will be etched in glass and will include a number of MEMS devices, like pumps, etc.

Obviously, systems on a chip are a commercial reality, while labs on a chip are very much an experimental area.

  2. in electronics,

    i know that,

system on a chip - microcontroller

and i have done many lab experiments like lcd, dc motor interface, ADC, DAC, etc.. on 8052 kits. so, i think,

lab on a chip - microcontroller design-and-verify kit
