What is taking an online class like?

I'm considering taking one and want to know how it generally works.

Pretty much like taking a regular class, except without the whole physically going to class thing.

Generally, you log onto a site where the instructor posts your assignments, and you either do the assignments on the site or email them in.  Same with tests.

I haven't heard the greatest things but I haven't taken one so I am not sure.  sorry
