  1. Taurine is an organic acid that can be found in lower amounts in the tissues of many animals including humans.  It is a derivative of the sulfur-containing amino acid, cysteine.  Named after the Latin taurus, which means bull or ox, as it was firt isolated in 1827 by Austrian scientists, Tiedemann and Gmelin.  It is often called an amino acid even though it is not strictly one.

There you have it.  You can look it up on Wikipedia.

  2. No, it's not bull urine.

Strict carnivores, such as cats or ferrets, need it either in their diet or as a supplement.

  3. Taurine is an amino acid found in meat.

Humans can synthesize taurine from other amino acids, but cats cannot.  This is why cats are called "obligate carnivores"; they must eat meat to survive.

I'd stick this in the source links but Y!A is censoring it, so here are the pieces:

    en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Taurine

  4. *shuffles papers* Well, According to Dr. Milinokis another name is "Dirt Lamb". That is all the info he is prepared to let out now.

I hope this will grant you satisfaction in what ever you need it for.
