Question:

What is tax personal allowance and can i qualify for it?

I am 18 years of age and currently work full time and work 40 hours a week.Would i qualify for this ?Could some one tell me more about it aswell please.I take home just over 160 pounds a week.

  1. Are you in the UK (as you mention pounds) or Australia (as you've posted in the Australian tax part of the site)?

    If you're in the UK, you will have a tax code issued by HMRC (formerly the Inland Revenue) - this will be something like 453L - that means you could earn GBP 4530 before being subjected to paying tax. The £4530 would be your "personal tax allowance" (please note, I'm just using a plucked-out-of-the-air figure... your payslip or the HMRC website will give you your true personal tax allowance figure).
