  1. Doubtful...it is used for epilepsy, seizures, sometimes neuralgia in the jaw or face joints... rarely used for addiction withdrawal (for the emotional effects) and "sometimes" for RLS, although not proven to be effective. Given it's pharmakinetics.. it "could" help with knee pain. Are you talking arthritis or knee pain like a hurt ligament? Very different issues. I'd say it's not used for knee pain though.

The side effects are way more of an issue then the knee pain itself. Not really a nice drug actually.

  2. Tegretol is prescribed for certain types of seizures and for painful facial spasms known as trigeminal neuralgia or tic doloreaux.

I never heard of it used for knee pain.

  3. its a seizure  med

  4. Maybe

Tegretol is an antiepileptic med.  Like many anti-convulsants, it is also a mood stabilizer (and used in depression and bipolar) and sometimes used for chronic pain syndromes.  It also has a bunch of potential side effects and toxicities, especially for women.  I have never seen it used for knee pain, usually headaches or neuralgias, but a doc might try it for knee pain, especially if there is not a good anatomical explanation for the pain.  It would be fairly unconventional, in my experience.
