  1. Temporary medicaid can be used just like medicaid to my understanding. BUT if it is discovered later that you shouldn't have had it you will have to pay it back. In my experience though they just give you that to go to the doctor till your medicaid officially goes into effect. I hope this helps. They should have told you when you applied if there were certain things it could only be used for. If all else fails call your caseworker.

    Good Luck.

  2. It is usually for a condition that is temporary and for a medical condition for which you are presumed eligible (like pregnancy, cancer or in some states, it can be for broken bones or something that is not long-term.) Sometimes, like in the case of pregnancy, it only covers services related to that condition. Just depends on the laws in the state you get the medicaid.

  3. I am unaware of what you mean by temporary Medicaid. We have Emergency Medicaid which is only for immigrants who are undocumented (and they must have undergone a life-threatening emergency) or Presumptive Medicaid which is just for pregnant women. Presumptive Medicaid gives you coverage only for a short period of time - maybe a month. It is given based on the assumption you will eventually apply for full Medicaid.

Beware though; just because you qualify for presumptive Medicaid doesn't mean you will be eligible for full Medicaid. I've had lots of people get denied and are upset because they thought they were shoo-ins since they were approved for Presumptive Medicaid.
