What is tested for at vehicle inspection?

im new to all this i live in new jersey and am about to register my first car and i need to have it inspected i wanted to know what they will be testing on and what is checked for and ect. ect. i have an 84 oldsmobile delta 88 royale brougham v8 307 gas

It really depends if you have a newer year car or old if you have a newer car they will probably check your exhaust system if not they normally check your lights, signals , horn most of the time .
