I've noticed that some NFL players have a badge on their jersey with a large 'C' on it and some stars or something below.

what does it mean and how to players earn it?

Its for captain You earn it when you are a leader on your team

you can be the best player in the nfl but if you are a  egostic guy, Forget the c like TO.but if you are not the best but you are a leader on the team you can have the C. Like kevin faulk.
