Seaplane lands on the hull.... think PBY or Grumman Duck family.

  13. Sea plane, ther have been many versions over the years,  they have pontoons to land on the water.  They were used heavily in Alaska for bush pilots.  The largest ever to fly was the Spruce Goose, it didn't fly far or for very long but it did get airborn.

  14. Seaplane, floatplane, pontoon plane.

  15. There are several types.

An airplane that can land on water is called a "seaplane" or a "flying boat" if the entire hull is used for floatation.  If it floats on streamlined floats used like landing gear, it is called a "floatplane."

An airplane that can land on either land or water is called an "amphibian" or an "amphibious aircraft" if the entire hull is used for floatation.  A floatplane with retractable wheels in the floats so it can use land or water is called an "amphibious floatplane."

  16. Seaplane.
