What is that Cat's Cradle string game?

Way back before Internet or video games kids used to tie a string to make a huge round circle.  Then you would hook both hands into the thread, too complicated to explain here, but then using the fingers of each hand they would loop the Circle of thread or string onto  fingers and wind and loop till they got a intricate pattern that swung to and fro, thus calling it the cat's cradle.  there was also the bench and the exchanging the finished meshed thread from your hands to someone elses...it must be a lost art, not sure if I could do it now.
