What is that annoying popping noise that my computer makes?

I've noticed lately that my computer makes a system sound like a champagne bottle being uncorked, sometimes several times per minute. I've shut down all nonessential software that I can find, but it still keeps doing it. How the heck can I find out what is making that noise before I take a sledgehammer to the darned thing? It's driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!

it might be the fan in the computer u might want to take it to a computer shop are it can be the hard drive  but to me sounds likr the fan

go to control panel and to sounds  wat i do is turn off all the sounds  i just leave the speaker sound on..

Is it a desktop PC ?. if it is, try open the casing and fix the cables position such a way any rotating fan wouldn't make friction with it.
