What is that big crack in California that supposivley is going to cause a huge earthquake someday called?

I forget what it's called and I want to look up images of it on google. I know a huge earthquake is supposed to happen and stuff. What is that crack called? In California?

  2. The San Andreas Fault runs 800 miles through California.  Scientists believe that there is enough stress on this fault that a biq quake (7.0 or higher) is coming, but cannot predict exactly when it will happen.

    Pt. Reyes (a gorgeous reserve north of San Francisco) is one of the best places to see the San Andreas Fault.  The Earthquake Trail is a paved .6 mile hike at Pt. Reyes.

  4. The San Andreas Fault is the major fault that runs through California.  However, there are many faults running through the state on which earthquakes can occur.


  5. The San Andreas is the larger fault running north/south through the state, but there a great many more. The Hayward fault, Newport-Inlgewood Fault and the San Jacinto Fault are more that come to mind.
