What is that clothes-like sheet under the hood of my car?

i know it protects the hood from heat but what is it called and where can i buy it?

It's usually called a hood pad or hood insulation.  Yes, it's used to protect the hood from heat and it is also a sound barrier.

You can buy it from your dealer.  I don't know if anyone sells a generic sheet of the padding that you can trim to fit your hood.

Hood pad. Hood insulator. Never heard it called a sheet. You can get them from the dealer or some auto stores like Autozone ot Chief autoparts. I go to the dealer for everything myself.
