  1. In California, there are many small and large forest fires.  This is probably the smoke and dust in the sky.  Check the National Weather Service or the news to see if there is a fire near you.

  2. lts Smog

  3. Probably a combination of things, air pollution, dust and particulates.

  4. It might be smog. Smoke and Fog. This is common in many major cities due to a lot of pollution in the atmosphere, like Los Angeles. Also, there are many fires in Northern California that's causing smoke in the sky and many places are supposed to experience patchy smoke from time to time.

  5. Smoke, from forest fires, or field burnings.  Around here, it's either one or the other.   Smog doesn't have the "smoke" smell, and it's not necessarily just in the sky, but all around.  I'm from Southern California but living in the Pacific Northwest now, and there is a difference between the two.

  6. If you live in wine country in CA it is the wild fire started by lightning the other day.
