When you walk in, you give them your ID to verify that you are 21 or older, they take your ID and the put it in a slot of a boxed shape machine. It's in there for about 3 seconds and then they give it back to you. What is that machine for?

  1. It also does not allow for altered IDs and errors on the guards part.

When they swipe it the main thing they are worried about is your age and it shows up nice and big on their little screen.

  2. Your driver's license has either a magnetic strip or a series of pixiliated dots like a barcode on the back.  It contains all of the same information that is printed on the front and some more.  If it the information agrees with what's on the front, then it is unlikely it is a fake ID.

We use the same device for making up new player rating cards.  It's faster than typing it all in by hand.

  3. to make sure that its not a fake ID...They have scanners for your barcode on the back of your license at some clubs in NY
