Hello,

Does anybody remember those plastic pog's that had like a corrugated surface? You could turn the pog to the left and see one image, and turn it too the right and see another image. Like a hologram sort of thing...

Does anybody know what it is called... the 2 image plastic thing?

Thanks a bunch,

Tom

  1. What you're thinking of is a lenticular lens. If you search this online you can find tutorials on how to make lenticular images, or simply info on how they work, if you're interested. Here's a link to the wikipedia page about lenticular lenses:

    Hope this helped!

  2. a reflector i think

  3. It's called a LENTICULAR image. A minimum of two images are combined (interlaced) and applied to a lenticular lens. The lens is comprised of lenticules (the corrugated surface you reference) that work as a magnifying glass only revealing portions of the interlaced image to the viewer. The images change as you move or move the image. A "FLIP" effect is when one image changes or flips into another. There are numerous effects that can be achieved: 3D, Motion, Morph, Flip, Zoom, or a combination of these effects. Examples can be seen at http://www.extremevision.com/content/eff...

There are many companies that sell interlacing software. Check under the "Lenticular Software" area of http://www.lenticularproducts.com/ for a list. Other companies that sell lenticular lens will provide basic interlacing software for free when buying their lens. You can then combine the lens with a printed inkjet output. Google... "lenticular lens." There is a learning curve in the procedure.

You can design your own lenticular business cards and postcards online at http://www.extremevisionproducts.com/.
