  1. You never want to catch the ball in volleyball but I think you're talking about a dive or sprawl.

  2. I think you mean a "Pancake."

We call it a pancake because it's like using your hand as a spatula, (or "pancake flipper" if spatula doesn't translate well).

You don't "catch" the ball, but I think you mean to stop the ball from hitting the ground.

You lay your entire arm flat on the ground with your body as low as possible, and let the ball hit your hand. In extreme cases to give the ball some air, you can "pop" the ball up with a small hand movement too.

  3. Dive

    or

    Sprawl

    NEVER CATCH A VOLLEYBALL

  5. can be called many things...

    1) a dive- the movement to get to the ball

    2) sprawl - sorta like a dive, actually after a dive, when you throw your body outward, stretching out to get the ball, following this is usually a roll over your right shoulder (to get up off the ground)..........most commonly used

    3) a digg- the actual passing

    4) a roll- the move to get up

    5) pancake- when the person sticks there hand out underneath the ball and it bounces up
