  1. Protein, Just buy some protein removal tablets and follow the instructions on the package.

  2. Probably either protein or calcium build-up.  Usually when material starts to "fade".  Try a new pair of contacts and don't wear them more than 2 weeks!  Also, Optifree is a good saline solution but also try clear care, it's an overnight cleaner.  Few things though, never put bottle w/ red tip in eye, always use clear care w/ special lens container it comes with and let contacts sit in solution 6 hours or overnight.  Clear care contains a hydrogen peroxide solution, little metal disk at bottom of case neutralizes one of the oxygens and turns into regular saline solution after 6 hours.  If contacts are fresh might be build-up from a dirty lens case, either get a new one monthly or throw old in dishwasher.  And always empty saline from case and allow to air dry.  Clear care found OTC where optifree is and is safe to use on all contacts nightly or once weekly, but it will feel fabulous after contacts soak in it!
