Is it just called the 17th or does it have another name?

Is it expensive?

  1. The seventeenth is predominantly a high-end residential and commercial district. (Yes, it does tend to be expensive).

It is sometimes referred to as "Batignolles."

The 17th maintains its own website (in French of course) which can be found here: http://www.mairie17.paris.fr/mairie17/js...

  2. The 17th is a northwestern district of Paris.

It has two sides : a posh and a 'poor' side. Indeed the south part of the arrondissement is rich (Etoile, Ternes, Wagram, Monceau) and the north is more affordable (Place de Clichy, Bessières, ...).

Between those two parts you have the Batignolles area which is very nice and tends to be more and more expensive but it's not a bad nor a rich area.
