  1. It's their name for 'fill-in' flash - ie the camera settings are the same as if the flash was not switched on, but the flash still fires in order to light up the parts of the picture which would otherwise be too dark. Like the term says, it helps to 'fill-in' the shadows.


  2. SL stands for slow synchro forced flash. Meaning, the shutter speed is slow in a dark place in order to clearly shoot the background that is out of flash light.
