  1. the 'perimeter' is the area around the 3-point line.  I like to think of it as 2 feet in front, and 2 feet behind although most people describe it just as the 3-point line.  The 3-point line was actually introduced in 1961 by the American Basketball Association, or ABA.  It was then introduced in 1971, along with the dunk and the 30 second shot-clock.  It was later adopted by the NBA when they merged in 1979-80, around Larry Bird's prime.  The reason why? to increase scoring in simple.  It also made defenders hustle more as they had to get out and guard 'perimeter' players, or point guards, shooting guards, and small forwards.  Overall, the 'perimeter' was a great invention that forever changed basketball.

I hope i didnt bore you to death lol

  2. 3 point line

  3. on or beyond the three point line. like a perimeter defense would be having all of your defenders on the three point line.

  4. it is the 3 point line, not the out of bounds line

  5. Anywhere behind the 3 pt line.

  6. the "perimeter" in any basketball league is the 3pt line...

  7. Like anything from the top of the key to the 3 point line.

    Good Luck

  8. the three point line

  9. It's the space between the three point line and the key.

Most of times, the perimeter shot is that long 2 mid-range jumpshot. But also a key 3-point shot receives the same name.

Players like Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady is specialists in perimeters shots.

That's why they are awesome players. Almost unstoppable.

    Thanks
