What is the 42 bus? Im so confused!?

Today at school someone said to someone said to someone "Are you going to catch the 42 bus?"

And everyone started laughing!

And then I was on myspace and I saw a bulletin survey and it asked "Do you know where I can catch the 42 bus? lol!"

I dont get it! What is the 42 bus???

if you mean  a bus line it might help to state what city

as Los Angels does have line 42 (lax- to union station)

It must be a local joke.  For example, if you live in Toronto, the TTC bus 42 is the Cummer bus ( insert your own jokes here... )
