  1. The central valley of  California can grow more food than the whole rest of the country.


  2. Well, undoubtedly, the Mississippi Valley, and specifically the "Corn Belt".

    It proceeds from "loess" raw material, which is known as the origin of the most productive soils on Earth, along with the Pampas in Argentina and the Ukrainian flats.

    The corn belt is capable to produce almost any crop and at a very high yield.

    The California Valley is also important, but requires irrigation.

    The west of the Mississippi Valley (KS, OK, NE, etc) is also very productive, but, again, requires irrigation.

    The Dakotas are also productive, but mostly because of its extension than because of it yields.

    The south specializes in tropical crops such as rice, cotton, etc.
