What is the 51st state i keep hearing people talk about?

is there gonna be one or in talks of one. i saw a picture of the flag....51 stars i a circle, its actually more cooler than the current one.

is the state Puerto Rico? i thought they just wanted the perks of being a citizen without having to ACTUALLY be an official one?

It already belongs to the US, lets just make it a state and be done with it.

the 51st state will be Long Island which will include manhattan, the bronx and staten island.  it will break off from the state of new york

Have not heard any recent talk about it, but a few years ago there was a discussion to make  Puerto Rico an official state instead of just a US territory.  However, the people there wanted to keep their independence and sovereignty.
